Chalk Art extravaganza new to Crazy Water Festival

The Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce is a proud sponsor of the 31st annual Crazy Water Festival, set for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, in downtown Mineral Wells. The festival surrounds the property of the Famous Mineral Water Company, home of Crazy Water, at 209 N.W. Sixth St. New this year is a Chalk Art extravaganza, where businesses and individuals may have an artist develop a square for them or draw their own. Chamber Awards Banquet set for Sept. 27

The Chamber Awards Banquet is set for 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at Clark Gardens Botanical Park, 567 Maddux Rd. Business Spotlight: Award Oil Co.

A descendant of fuel businesses that have been servicing the Weatherford area since the 1920s, Award Oil Company has been operating since 1988. The company moved to Mineral Wells in 2003 when it acquired the Sturdivant-Dunaway Direct Fuels operation on U.S. Highway 281 North. Serving farms, ranches, and commercial customers, the company’s sales and deliveries of diesel fuel, gasoline, and other oil products topped $7 million in 2008, and the number of gallons sold has continued to rise over the years. Award Oil is operated by Clay, Travis and Mike Ward. Janey Lambert manages the office along with Mrs. Ruth Ward, who turned 90 in October.
