Grants for tourism projects

The Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to offer reimbursement grant opportunities to events and activities that promote tourism in the Mineral Wells area and Palo Pinto County. In 2009, the Chamber Tourism Committee sponsored 12 events/activities, including the Palo Pinto County Livestock Association Professional Rodeo, the 30th Annual Crazy Water Festival, the Kiwanis Crazy Kicker Bike Ride, Clark Gardens' Holiday Festival, and the Cowtown Society of Western Music Swingfest and Tribute Show. The Tourism Special Promotions Application may be obtained from the Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce beginning Jan. 1, 2010, and all grant applications are considered once a year in March.

The process is competitive, with emphasis on projects that generative overnight guests.  The average grant is $1,500 and is paid as a reimbursement.

Texas Friendly Hospitality Program

Each quarter, the Chamber hosts customer service training for all with the Texas Friendly Hospitality Program. Texas Friendly Hospitality focuses on six key hospitality habits that help front-line employees serve the public and managers/owners serve both peers, employees and the public. This program is administered at the state level by the AgriLife Extension Service, and the Chamber has its own in-house certified instructor. Please see the Chamber Events Calendar for more information, or contact Ninfa Holly, Assistant Director for Tourism and Special Events, at ninfa(at)mineralwellstx.com.
